This is taking place at my school and I am furious. Under the American with Disabilities Act any school district (with the exception of a deaf school) that hires her will have to provide an interpreter. It’s ridiculous that the school is not allowing her to have an interpreter in the classroom when she will have one while she is actually working. I will be working on legislation with the student government association to do something about this, but for the time being I think it needs some visibility.

Don’t let CMU get away with this.

Today in student government myself and others presented a resolution in support of Kelly, but it looks like she is going to need as much support as she can get. Sign the petition, reblog this post, anything you can do to help get this fixed.

Ableism is never okay. 

I’m ashamed to say I attended CMU. Because the only reason they gave in was because of the bad publicity they were getting. Apparently all the other crap they’ve pulled the 2011-2012 academic year hasn’t been enough.
