Friendzoned

I adore the Julian/Jadzia friendship. Others might ship them, but I just love to imagine them have pajama parties and movie nights together.

and she gives him sex and relationship advice about Garak because if he so much as raises the topic with O’Brien he turns bright pink and claps his hands over his ears and goes LALALALALALALA
LOOK SOMETIMES YOU JUST NEED TO TELL SOMEONE ABOUT THIS WEIRD BUT ULTIMATELY AWESOME THING YOUR BOYFRIEND DID LAST NIGHT
WELL DON’T TELL ME I SUFFER ENOUGH AND MY WIFE’S BEEN ON A BUSINESS TRIP FOR SIX MONTHS AND I DO NOT NEED TO HEAR ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE’S VIBRANT LOVE LIVES

#yes yes yes #heavily invested in this brotp #can julian and jadzia be ultimate proof that the friendzone is the greatest of zones #jsquared #what a good name for it #you don’t understand this friendship is the light of my DS9 life #incurable sciencey products of the same warped system #you starfleet types

Example of Star Trek Addressing Social Issues - Mental Illness

This scene got me right in the gut when I first saw it. It was revealed earlier in the episode that Garak suffers from extreme claustrophobia, experiencing a severe attack just a few scenes before this one. I was already expecting Martok and Worf to dismiss Garak’s mental illness, especially because the Klingon Empire prides its people on physical strength. I was waiting for them to call him a coward, not “getting over it” like I’ve heard so many times in my own life about mental illness. But as seen above that’s not what happened, the exact opposite does. Its moments like this that make me love Star Trek, even for all its flaws. Sometimes I get to see past my conditioned reaction of the worst, and get to see the best in people instead.

TDLR; Star Trek may be about aliens in the future, but it connects to me on a human level - more than most modern shows do today.

This.

The neck stretch gif exists now~

"so how do you portray the sentiment?"
I could not stop thinking (and being upset) about “The Dream Box”, today. It was a play that was only shown to a convention audience and involved Garak and Bashir coming across something that translated every nuance of meaning between them, so they could finally *really* understand each other, rather than relying on the Universal Translator. According to someone who saw it, Garak had Bashir say ‘I love you’ to himover and over, in as many ways as he could think of - to a lover, a child, a friend, etc - just so Garak could relish actually being able to detect the differences.I don’t know what the thing they found to do that looked like, or even was, but I was so wrapped up in how *close* an experience that would be, and with it being called Dream *Box*, I ended up with some obvious imagery that was perfect to try my new liquid frisket on.my usual MO of naming my G/B paintings after a lyric in The Birthday Massacre’s “Pale” continues here. I couldn’t believe I found something to paint to this lyric, it’s wonderful~

OMFG those lucky souls who saw that have my eternal envy. Good lord. The whole idea is so fucking beautiful and you captured it wonderfully in the art. *happy sigh*
